Words to Live By

Have a list of favorite things.  Feel free to change it often.

Food is love...especially if it is made by my mother.

Always say "Please" and "Thank you."  Always.

Don't be afraid to love John Mayer. His music, that is.

Go ahead and have twins.  I highly recommend it.

Have a theme song.  Sing it frequently.

Henry David Thoreau knew what he was talking about when he said, "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined."

Looking Good

Spring pictures were a first for this family. In the past, they have always chosen a fall setting for photos. Let’s be honest, as gorgeous as this clan is, any season or location would suit them just fine. But after seeing how their shoot turned out, I don’t know if fall will ever make the cut again.

Nic & Trudi, spring looks dang good on you guys!

It’s True

I have myself convinced that I am a mother of babies, that it was only yesterday that I gave birth. I really believe it, even though my girls are almost four. When I am fortunate enough to spend a little time with a real infant, I suddenly start to hyperventilate at the thought that Lydi & Samantha are practically adults who no longer need my loving care and parenting skills. Believe it or not, four years from now, it will feel like this beautiful lady could be out of the house and on her own. (Because being capable of getting dressed independently and functioning as an adult are kind of the same, right?)

My advice to her momma? Soak up her infancy while you can! She will not be a baby forever, even if you have convinced yourself otherwise.

No Kidding

If this kid ever goes missing, the first place his parents should look is my house. He is absolutely steal-able!

Second Chance

So the last time I shot these lovelies, the weather was bad. Really bad. I don’t know if it is just my imagination, but I swear we had rain, a heck of a lot of wind, snow, and maybe a tsunami or two. Let’s just say that the circumstances were way less than ideal. With a promise of a redo, we parted ways.

On the second go, we lucked out! First, we shot inside. Our surroundings were cozy and full of light, without a single drop of precipitation. Secondly, our time together involved bubbles which meant happy kids in fits of giggles! Lastly, the images are ready to go just in time for Mother’s Day and that’s just plain cool because every momma wants to capture happy moments of her littles. Thank goodness for second chances!

The Award Goes To…

Is there an unwritten rule about how an infant’s temperament effects their attitude as a teenager? For this sweet baby’s parents, I hope with all my heart that her teen years mimic the time we spent together at our shoot. If that is the case, she will be given the award for Best Teenager Ever.
